Sunday, November 13, 2011  The crews morning started off early by a 3am dispatch for a reported brush fire by a passing motorist on 313 in the area of the Wagon Wheel.  BC18 was first on scene with a working 20' x 20' brush fire just off the edge of the road.  Field 17 and Squirt 18 went on scene and went in service with their booster line and field rakes.  Companies were available within the hour.

Saturday, November 12, 2011  Station 27 was dispatched for a working apartment fire on main street.  Tower 18 while enroute back to station from the Friendly's box assignment was dispatched to cover the 27 local.  The crew covered for approx. 3 hrs until they returned back home.

Saturday, November 12, 2011  17,18,57,58, and 26 apparatus were dispatched for a reported building fire at the Friendly's resturaunt.  BC17 went on scene with a light smoke condtion in the front counter checkout area.  DC setup Quakertown command.  Engine 17 pulled a line to the front door while Tower 18 setup the main to the roof.   With help from building maintenance the cause was narrowed down to a cigarette that caught a asphalt exansion joint on fire in front of the building.  Crews were back in service within 2 hrs.

Saturday, November 5, 2011  QFD was dispatched for a reported dwelling fire, DC87 went on scene shortly after with a smoke showing from the second floor.  The Tower went on scene soon after and went to the interior as well as to the roof.  Capt.18 reported heavy fire in a bedroom on the CD corner.  Engine 17s crew advanced to the 2nd floor and made a quick knock on the fire.  After extensive overhaul the companies were back in service within 3 hrs.  Pictures to follow

Tuesday, November 1, 2011  It is with deep regret the officers and members of the Quakertown Fire Department announce the death of Past Chief Fred Guenst, who passed away on October 30, 2011. The viewing will be held on Sunday November 6,2011 from 4pm to 7pm and Monday November 7, 2011 from 10am to 11am at the Jeffrey A Naugle Funeral Home located at 135 W. Pumping Station Road in Quakertown. Funeral services will be held Monday November 7, 2011 at 11am at the Jeffrey  A Naugle Funeral Home located at 135 W. Pumping Station Road in Quakertown with interment immediately following at the Union Cemetary located on Cemetary Road in Quakerotwn. Any Companies wishing to send apparatus should contact Chief Wilhelm.

Fred will be missed by all who knew him. He touched many people throughout his life and had many accomplishments. He was a former police officer in Quakertown and Lansdale, worked in law enforcement in southern states, was a Deputy Game Warden, and recently worked with security at the Quakertown Farmers Market. He formerly was head of Quakertown Borough Public Works, Quakertown Fire Marshal, and recently was the Fire Marshal for Richland Township. Fred was involved in fire service for years, a former member of Richlandtown Fire Co., West End Fire Co., where he served as Battalion Chief, and currently was an active member of Quakertown Fire Co. #1. He was a past Chief of the Quakertown Fire Dept., Battalion Chief for the Upper Bucks County Haz-Mat team, a Bucks County Fire School instructor, EMT, and currently was a PA Forest Fire Warden and former Patrolman. Fred was a member of numerous affiliated organizations and the American Legion in Quakertown.

Rest In Peace Fred, you will forever be in our hearts.

Monday, October 31, 2011  The fire service is in need of men and women in their community to volunteer their time performing various duties. Did you know that your local fire company is 100% volunteer? That includes the firefighters you see on the street, the office staff that manages the business aspects, and the dedicated members who raise funds to keep the firehouse running. West End Fire Company is located on Park Avenue between Main Street and 14th Street and we need your help! We are currently accepting applications for trained and non trained firefighters and QRS (Quick Response Service) Members. Firefighters will be trained in various aspects of firefighting and rescue skills through the Bucks County Training Center which is affiliated with the Bucks County Community College. Our QRS members are members who want to become Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's) or are already certified and want to respond in our QRS truck to assist our local ambulance organizations. We also need members who are willing to dedicate their time for fundraising events. West End Fire Company relies on fundraisers to help with our day to day expenses. Members who join for fundraising would become part of our valuable group of members who commit to making sure our fundraisers are successful so we can meet our monetary needs. Saturday, October 29, 2011  QFD firefighters, as well as fire companies all over bucks county were kept busy this weekend while the first snow fall hit our area. Crews ran dozens of calls during the day which consisted of calls for wires arching, traffic accidents, and dwelling fires.

Sunday, October 23, 2011  All Station 17 and 18 apparatus participated in the annual Quakertown Halloween parade this Sunday. Both stations had a trailer so the Ladies Auxillary and kids of the members could also participate.
