How West End Fire Company was Formed
A meeting was held in the home of Clement A. Hillegass on June 25, 1925 to organize a second fire company in the west end of the Borough of Quakertown; Twenty-two or more men attended this meeting with Oliver Bleam as temporary chairman. Twenty men joined the new fire company that night.
The following officers were nominated and elected to serve the new fire company for the rest of the ensuing year of 1925:
President, Olvier Bleam

A By-Law Committee was appointed and on August 16, 1925 the Company petitioned the Courts of Bucks County for a Charter, which was granted them December 28, 1925.
In December the first regular election of the West End Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 was held and the following officers were elected for the ensuing year of 1926:

The Company held its meetings in the home of Clement Hillegass from June 25 until August 13, 1925, when the Borough Council granted the Company the use of the Hose House, on 12th Street, near West Broad Street, to hold their meetings and allowed them the use of a two-wheeled hose cart that was stored there.
In 1927 the Company purchased the old blacksmith shop at 15 South Main Street from Raymond Fretz, and remodeled this building to meet their needs and requirements. Since then they added two additions, a meeting room and a kitchen. It was the home of the West End Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 from January 6, 1927 until November 7, 1959.
The Fire Station on Main Street not being large enough for the needs and requirements of the Company and the lot being too small to add to the building, the Company purchased a lot on Park Avenue, between Main and 14th Streets, in 1958.
In the spring of 1959, ground was broken and a new Fire Station was built at 1319 Park Avenue. The Company moved into the new Fire Station on November 7, 1959 and it has been the home of the West End Fire Company to the present time.
